A small, dark-pelted tomcat lay lazily in the center of the camp, sighing softly. His dark sapphire eyes glittered impatiently, and his tail flicked across his hind limbs. The apprentice hadn't seen too much action in the ShadowClan camp, and he had no idea if his mentor was going to train him today.
Smokepaw stood up slowly, then looked toward the nursery. It seemed that moons ago a small WindClan kit had been brought into the marshy Clan. If he remembered correctly, her name was Hollykit.
"I'd do anything if I could just talk to some-cat," he growled to himself, flicking his gaze to the bright summer sky. The heat was absorbed into his almost ebony coat, so he backed into the shade of a tree. Of course, the proud tom meant bragging about himself when he wanted to talk to some-cat, but it didn't matter to him. Unless he was going to be punished for his arrogant lies, why not be boastful?

(ooc; haha, that quote you have around the ic is on a shirt that i'm wearing right now ^^.)
A flash of gold and white bolted out of the Nursery, tumbling through the dirt and landing smack into a bramble bush. The leaves obscured the kit's face for a moment, and she shook her head to gain her vision back. The smile on her muzzle curved to a brattish pout as she leaned down to pull a thistle out of her tail. There was no one who wanted to play with her- no other kits beside herself and a nursery full of grouchy queens. She missed her brother, not still understanding the whole situation at hand on why she had to live in a different clan when her father was dead. She wanted to go back; anything was better than the environment here. 'Hollykit, go to sleep. Hollykit, don't bother the warriors. Hollykit, go keep the elders company and change their bedding while they weeze sickness all over you. Hollykit, stop twitching your tail and don't have any fun. Hollykit, play nice and don't...'
A voice from the center of camp startled her bitter thoughts, turning her head to find what she guessed an apprentice she didn't know, sifting over toward the shade. “Anything?” she repeated. Hollykit glanced both ways as to make sure no queens were nearby, leaping the tail-length that seperated them. “Can you take me out of camp to the borders? I want to see a ThunderClan cat!.” It was just another rotten attempt to try and smuggle her way out of the camp, an attempt she knew was just as futile as the last couple times she’d tried it. She felt a new plan tug at her brain, eyes narrowing slightly in turn.

The dark tom continued to flick his tail in annoyed silence, closing his eyes and for once in his life enjoying the quiet. Just then, a kit tumbled out of the nursery, landing in a bush. He watched her with an unfriendly sneer as she pulled thistles out of her fur. Suddenly, she leapt toward him, making Smokepaw jump up and face her with a frown.
"Can you take me out of camp to the borders? I want to see a ThunderClan cat!" she was asking him, when her eyes suddenly narrowed. "I bet you’ve never seen a ThunderClan cat."
The proud tom was only too eager to correct her, even if it was a lie. He puffed his chest out, lifted his chin, and mewed, "Actually, I have. Five of them. Just the other day . . . they were rotten fleabags, smelt like an overstuffed old squirrel." His insult was all the more sweet since he knew that ThunderClan thought the same of them. He sat by the ginger-and-white she-kit's side, his dark blue eyes gleaming. "Yep. They were on their side of the territory, though, but I caught one sniffing on our side. So I chased him away with a good bite to the tail."
Smokepaw's fur bristled; he was actually beginning to believe his own fib. He looked around, and then mewed in Hollykit's ear. "I'm Smokepaw. You're Hollykit, right? Well . . . I'll take ya, but if anyone asks, it was all your idea."

The kit listened intently, her jaw slowly dropping several inches as she hung on the apprentice’s every word. "Five of them. Just the other day.. they were rotten fleabags, smelt like an overstuffed old squirrel.” Five ThunderClan cats? She hadn’t even seen one! Envy seeped up her throat in the makings of a growl as he continued. I caught one sniffing on our side. So I chased him away with a good bite to the tail.
“Liar.” she snorted before she could stop herself. “No way you saw five of them!” Despite her accusation, the impressionable kit looked more than convinced with her dark green eyes just about to bulge right out of her skull.
Hollykit hadn’t expected him to agree to take her anywhere, and she wasn’t able to physically contain her excitement. With a delighted squeal, she pounced around the grass. “Really Smokepaw? You’ll take me? You won’t tell anyone? Can we see RiverClan too? And then can we go to the Thunderpath and,” She stopped hopping and smirked, “If we see any ThunderClanners, you can just fight them off! But what's the catch?” She wasn't stupid; there was always a catch. And she'd be willing to make negotiations if it meant escaping the nursery walls.

Arrogance glittered in the depths of dark cobalt eyes, and the young cat lifted his chin proudly again. Her jaw was gaping; she had believed every word he had said. But then a small snort caught his attention as she muttered, "Liar. No way you saw five of them!" He flicked his tail across her side with a scornful sneer, but inwardly he snapped out of his reverie of battling giant cats to bring himself back into the realm of reality.
Hollykit squealed delightedly and began to hop around, no more than a light-toned blur of fluff. She began to ask if they could visit other Clan territories, and when she mewed, "If we see any ThunderClanners, you can just fight them off!" he absolutely beamed.
Smokepaw began to pace back and forth, his movements fluid and swift. He rested back on his haunches, and heard her query about a "catch" to their little stroll. He smirked, flashing his teeth . . . ivory against ebony, a distrusted grin. "No catch, Hollykit," he purred, looking innocent. He looked into her pine-colored eyes and snorted. "You'll just have to listen to my many stories. About me, mostly, but that's alright . . ." He quickly added, his gaze sweeping around the camp in case a warrior was watching, "But like I said before, it's your idea. Deal?"

'No catch Hollykit, you'll just have to listen to my many stories. About me, mostly, but that's alright.
The orange and white kit resisted the urge to roll her eyes, her head bobbing up and down impatiently. "My idea, no catch, stories." she mimicked slowly, glancing at the raven-pelted tom for only a moment longer before darting toward the camp exit. If they didn't go quickly, the sun would set and someone would notice she was gone. The queens were always yammering on about kits growing mutant second tails should they disobey their elders. And she liked her tail just fine as it is. But Smokepaw was three or four moons her senior, and he didn't seem to have a problem watching her.
Meanwhile she halted at the entrance and began to prattle away quite loudly for a cat who wanted to keep a low profile when leaving. “I’m going to touch the Thunderpath! Chasekit, he says that if you touch the tar, your paw shrivels up and disintegrates into ash. Have you ever crossed the Thunderpath? I want to meet a monster!”

Smokepaw smiled as Hollykit repeated what he had said and sped toward the exit of the camp. He also retreated, keeping to the shadows where his charcoal pelt wouldn't be noticed. His dark eyes gleamed, and he went through his different tales in his mind, trying to pick out the ones that sounded true. Really, his training was full of the basic junk -- fighting and hunting practice, taking care of the elders, going on dull patrols -- and he hadn't really done anything special. He remembered his mother telling him the story of the kit that cried twoleg, but he thought it was dumb. Oh yes, they'd believe him every time.
He sat next to the ginger-splotched she-kit and hissed urgently as she began to speak about Thunderpaths. He nudged her into the pines and growled, "Be quiet, Hollykit! Now . . . I have seen the Thunderpath, and have touched it. It's really smelly, almost as terrible as ThunderClan scent." He wrinkled his snout in disgust. "But, anyway, I met a monster once. They don't go off of the Thunderpath often. A long time ago, yes, when our ancestors had to move to this new territory by the lake, but not now." An odd shiver passed up his spine, and he nearly whimpered. Smokepaw had heard all of the stories . . . and he definately didn't want to have the same experiences. "Quiet now, Hollykit. Let's go." Looking over his shoulder one final time, he raced off.
and they don't like you

“ ‘Kay. ” she replied obediently. Running after him, her claws sought to grip the slippery leaves that lay scattered in her path. A thousand questions and comments threatened to pour like water off her tongue, but she bit it for the meantime, just concentrating on following the shadowy apprentice as fast as she could without tripping.
/ooc;/ sorry this is so disgustingly short, but theres not much to be said and im supposed to be packing and off the computer anyway. and sure, the stream's fine. :]
