Mist clouded the morning sky, as she sat, her body unmoving, the only sign of life was her blinking eyes, and the gentle rise and fall of her chest.
Everlife sat, intwined in her thoughts. It was not long past dawn, and she would soon hunt, but until then, she sat under the stars that faded into a misty sky, trying to find her parents in the faintly glinting specks far above.
And her eyes were raised to the sky, as they always were, and would stay that way until the last star disappeared into morning light.

never look down on someone
An ivory shape slipped past the numerous stones, which gleamed in the dawn. The darkness of night was beginning to creep away, pushed aside by the red sun. Pink and violet slithered into the dark indigo, Silverpelt beginning to disappear in the bright light.
The regal white she-cat's chilling brown gaze swept around the Rock Garden, and her muzzle lifted in the air a touch to sniff. She approached her warrior slowly, then settled by her side, her silver tail curled around her haunches and resting neatly on her paws as she angled her head to look up as well.
"Greetings, Everlife," Icestar murmured, not even looking at the huntress. Suddenly her eyes dropped toward the ground, and she heaved a sigh. "My parents and siblings are up there, as well." She knew little about Everlife's path, and would respect her privacy. However, judging by the look in her yellow-orange eyes, she was clearly remembering deceased loved ones.
Icestar stood up again, stretching and flexing her talons. With a half-smile directed at her loyal Clan member, she padded over to a dull, broad rock, and leapt on it, then lay down in the summer heat, basking in the sun's warmth.

And this is what happened every day. She would come, and hope to find just a trace that her parents were watching her still, until today. Until she came.
She rose, gently, to her paws. "As to you, Icestar." She meowed, to the greeting. She sighed gently. "As are mine. I sometimes wonder if they still watch me, from the stars." Her voice was soft, and her long legs carried her gracefully and swiftly near to where Icestar sunned herself. She sat herself, and spoke again. "It just seems so different here!" She meowed. "Not that we could have survived in the old forest, though," she said in an undertone. Everlife waited for her leader's response.
But a conversation started, and the she-cat wondered if this was a day to remember, as her orange pelt shone brighter.

One cool mahogany eye opened to see that the warrioress had chosen to seat herself closer to where she lay. She lifted her head, ears pricking forward to listen as Everlife spoke. She directed her gaze to stars, seeking out her family. Oh, yes, from the day Streamkit drowned . . . to the battle in which Falconstar passed on . . . the ivory WindClan cat had lost a lot.
"It just seems so different here!" Everlife meowed, drawing her attention toward the ginger she-cat again. She nodded and murmured, "So 'tis. I can still feel the old territory deep within my blood, the old moorlands our ancestors hunted in." When she was just a humble kit, Icestar had loved the legends of Brambleclaw and the others, but the held new meaning for her as she slowly turned into an adult.
The white feline leapt off of the rock and stood by her Clanmate's side. "Would you like to hunt?" she asked. Her stomach had begun to rumble earlier, growling for a fresh meal. One of Icestar's favorite things to do was chase after rabbits. She twisted her lean, lithe form into a more dominant -- yet still friendly -- posture, staring out into the hills.

From a nearby bunch of ferns, a small excited squeak erupted. The bush gave a wiggle and a small, tabby cat darted out of the tall plants. A tawny hued kit ran straight at the older cats, not seeing that her leader was there and not thinking about respect at all. Her amber optics sparkled in excitement but the kit soon tripped over her large paw. This didn't put her off though, she picked herself up and grinned at Icestar.
"I'd like to go hunting with you, Icestar!" She mewed squeakily while still grinning happily. A tail positively wiggled with excitement as she watched impatiently for the older she-cat's response. "Please? Oh please lemme come with you! It can be...practice for my real apprenticing hunting!" She yipped, unaware that she was scaring away every rabbit within twenty fox-lengths of them.

A delighted mew rang out from around the stony mass, and Icestar lifted her head, light-hued ears pricked. Her apprentice galloped out into view, soon tripping over herself but leaping back up again.
"I'd like to go hunting with you, Icestar!" Larkpaw begged loudly. With an urgent hiss the white she-cat began to stare around, when she sighed, her silver tail drooping a little. She nudged the young'un gently and smirked.
"Yes, I'll take you hunting," she growled. "Excuse me, Everlife; I must deal with this young lady." She bounded away, calling to Larkpaw over her shoulder. "You're a slowpoke!" she chuckled, her lighter side showing through. Icestar -- even as the warrioress Icewhisker -- had a pretty soft spot for kits and apprentices. "You must be quiet, though," she added in a whisper, her whiskers twitching in rare embarrasment that she, too, was being loud.
